A URL shortener is an online application that converts a regular URL into a condensed format.
  
We recommend two tools to do this (both are great):
 >> bit.ly and Tiny.cc
 
Just copy the full URL of a website and paste it into the URL shortening tool to come up with an abbreviated version that is around 10 to 20 characters long.
 
Both bit.ly and Tiny.cc allow you to shorten and customize your links, but most importantly, manage and analyse them:
 
For example:
- You can see the number of (unique) clicks on your links
- You can also track these clicks that the shortened links get over a certain time frame
