All CollectionsEMAIL MARKETINGHow to avoid the Spam/Junk folder

Many email services and internet providers use programs that block unwanted emails.

If you send email campaigns, you will inevitably face spam filter issues.

If your spam score exceeds a certain threshold, your email will get flagged as spam and go straight into the spam box.

If your marketing results suffer because you struggle to reach inbox space, you will find below tips and recommendations that will avoid your emails being sent ending up in the Spam box:

  1. Do not purchase a contact list. Rarely accurate, and full of dead and spam email addresses, they are a waste of money
  2. Avoid words or marks like: Exclamation and question marks, dollars, make, money, free, emojis, etc
  3. Do not use tricks such as starting the subject line with “Re:” or “Fwd:”; or stating that the recipient has won a prize
  4. Ask your new subscribers (e.g. via a welcome email), to ‘whitelist’ you, to add your “From” address to their address books
  5. Be sure of your From field address. There are standard difficulties encountered with certain email addresses nowadays, and addresses such as “contact@”, “newsletter@”, “support@” can be sent to Spam
  6. Test your campaigns before to send them out, always!
  7. Stay in touch with your contacts. It’s always good to maintain a steady flow of communication
  8. Don't forget that even the best newsletter can go straight to the Spam folder!

These tips above will dramatically reduce your spam score but it's important to keep in mind that a score of 0 is nearly impossible to reach and a few of your emails will inevitably end up in the Spam box.
